flountain is not a dating app
You can be friendly. You can flirt mildly if both sides want to. But if you joined to find romantic partners, this isn't the right app.
Specifically — do not:
- Ask for photos, especially intimate ones.
- Ask for someone's WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, or phone number in the first few messages.
- Send sexually explicit text, images, or audio.
- Pretend to be in love with someone you've never met, or send money requests.
We will ban accounts that do these things. We will not warn three times. The point is for learners to feel safe enough to keep practising.
Be respectful
You will meet people from very different cultures here. Respect is the price of admission.
Don't harass, intimidate, or threaten anyone.
Disagreement is fine. Hostility, slurs, and threats are not.
Don't attack people based on identity.
Race, religion, gender, sexuality, nationality — none of these are fair targets.
Don't share private info.
Photos, addresses, real names — not without explicit consent.
Talk about anything — politics included
Languages exist in political contexts. You can talk about your country, your government, current events. You can disagree.
We will not ban you for criticizing any government — including ours, including yours.
We do not moderate political opinions. We moderate behaviour.
No spam. No impersonation. No scams.
- Don't promote products, services, or other apps in DMs.
- Don't claim to be someone you're not.
- Romance scams, crypto scams, "I'm a soldier overseas" scams — instant ban.
If something goes wrong
Every message has a long-press menu with Report and Block one tap away.
Reports
Go to a real human. We typically review within 24 hours.
Blocks
Instant. They can't see your messages, your moments, or your profile.
What we'll do
Minor first-offence stuff — one boundary push, a hostile reply.
Repeated behaviour or serious incidents.
Harassment, scams, sexual content directed at people who didn't ask, anything involving minors.
If you're banned and you think we got it wrong, write to safety@flountain.com. We do read these.
Minors
flountain is not for children under 13. If you're between 13 and 18, please use it with a parent or guardian.
We will permanently ban any adult account caught sending sexual or romantic content to a minor, and pass the case to law enforcement where appropriate.
You can leave
You can delete your account at any time from the profile screen. Your messages, vocab, and profile are removed within 7 days.
Why these rules exist
We learned a lot of these rules by reading the public complaints about other language-exchange apps. We wrote them down because we believe they actually matter.
